PINK GAME

Promoting cancer awareness
Pink game now a tradition
for many college sports teams

Think Pink. Hundreds of college sports teams across the nation suit up in pink for a single game to a whole tournament to “help increase cancer education and promote healthy living through awareness efforts and fundraising activities,” according to the National Coaches Fastpitch Association (NFCA).

Wolverine pink game...

For the Wesley Wolverines softball team, the game is played at home near the end of the season's schedule, usually on or near the day honoring the team's senior class. The date for 2015 has not been set yet.

Last year's pink doubleheader was against the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers (Cobleskill, New York) played, of course, on DuPont softball field, Dover, DE. The Wolverines won and lost a game that day, each by a single run.

Jose Marcano photos...

Jose Marcano recorded every inning of the two 2014 pink contests in more than 400 photographs. Jose, father of Wolverine catcher Nina Marcano, shot most of Wesley's home and away softball games last year. He often positioned himself with camera near or overlooking the outfield fence.

Many of the photos posted this fall and winter at this blog are Jose's pictures. Below is some of his work from the 2014 pink game...
