BIG BARREL

Wesley softball, volleyball fund raising
Wolverine athletes working
Big Barrel Festival this weekend

The Wesley College Wolverine volleyball and softball teams are working (as a fundraiser) concession stands today through this weekend at the Big Barrel Country Music Festival, The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway, Delaware.

This is the first year for the Big Barrel event, which follows on the hugely successful Firefly Music Festival held on the same grounds just last week. Big Barrel will run Friday, June 26 - Sunday, June 28 from 12:30 pm-12:00 am each day.

If you go, please give a big howdy to our hard working Wolverines behind many of the food booths!

GUIDE FOR WESLEY FESTIVAL WORKERS

Wesley softball/ volleyball teams
Huge team fund raiser
starts this Wednesday

Coming fast... This week and next week two major fund raising venues arrive back-to-back for the Wesley College Wolverine volleyball and softball teams.

The events are fantastic – Firefly Music Festival & Big Barrel Country Music Festival – but the work can be hot, arduous, long on hours, often with non-stop service to crowds expected to reach upwards to 90,000.

Many thanks to the volunteer workers, especially those not players themselves.

Here is everything you want to know about where to be, how to dress, and what to bring for staff workers at the festivities.

SUNSHINE STATE

Plan A at the moment
2016 schedule may feature
Sunshine State spring break

Where will the Wesley Wolverines play this Spring Break 2016?

CenturyLink Softball Fields, Fort Myers, FL.
You've heard the exotic, if also fanciful, rumors. Puerto Rico? Arizona? Maybe in our backyard, Virginia Beach?

Well, a destination is beginning to crystallize. It's none of the above, while it's definitely, as always, warm, crowded and competitive!

► Plan “A” is The Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic®, Fort Myers, Florida.

This tournament typically draws over a hundred softball and baseball teams from upwards to two dozen states for about 500 games played over a three week period. Stands can be packed as often local residents and snowbirds attend the contests.

North Collier Softball Fields, Fort Myers, FL.
► Plan “B” is the more familiar Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

It is awfully early yet for anything near a final decision. Much has to fall in place: fund-raising (e.g. upcoming Firefly/ Big Barrel chores), scheduling (fitting both classroom & ball-field), reasonable travel & accommodations, etc. Head Coach Juli Greep is working on all of it now.

Either venue, however, promises plenty of sun, sand, softball and, almost certainly, the start of another successful Wolverine season!
