Below are the 15 for fans to know.

These are the 15 names of the 2015 Wesley Wolverines looking for family and friends to cheer on, encourage, and support in this new season.

The 15 names – roughly charted here by position – also may be outfielders who pitch, or pitchers who play outfield, or infielders who step in as a designated hitter. Or, you may find many of the 15 names playing any of numerous positions; these talented Wolverines are flexible and easily adapt to the team's needs. The 15 may have special nicknames, too. For instance, Samantha Mahoski, a.k.a. "Samantha" or simply “Sam” or her preference for just “Mahoski”!

These are the 15 who expect to be among the final 5 teams competing in the Capital Athletic Conference's (CAC's) end-of-season playoffs this season.

If you want a picture of the Wesley Wolverine team and/or individual shots of players alone or in groups on the Myrtle Beach sands – away from the softball field – you have two choices.

You can wait for the week after next to download these photos when they will appear at this blog and probably the Wesley College Softball Facebook page, as well.

Or, you can come to the shoot with a camera (or just watch without a camera) this coming Sunday morning, March 8, at 10:00 AM near the ocean surf of the Avista Resort, 300 North Ocean Blvd, North Myrtle Beach, SC, where the team is staying.

There will be ample time to catch the Wolverines in different poses, though this picture taking may be shorter than last year. That's because the start time of the season's first game is 1:30 PM! -- down the road a bit from the hotel.

NFCA POLL 3-4-15

CAC UPDATE: Christopher Newport Captains lost their Monday season opener 12-8 to the Averett Cougars, but the Captains still remain ranked in the top five nationally. The Salisbury Sea Gulls who have not played yet retain their hold on the #2 spot in the nation in the lastest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III poll.

The Wesley Wolverines play the Sea Gulls away in Salisbury on Wednesday, March 25, and take on the Captains at home on Wednesday, April 8.

FIREFLY MUSIC FESTIVAL

Two Wolverine festival fundraisers
2015 Firefly Music Festival

  More dates to circle on the calendar, back-to-back long weekends:
Thursday – Sunday, June 18 – 21  & Friday – Sunday, June 26 – 28
No, these dates are not for games, or practice, or lifting.
 

Firefly crowds of 90,000+ are expected.

But these dates definitely set a venue, schedule, and workout for Wesley Wolverines. It is just of a very different kind than softball.

These dates are the four days of the 2015 Firefly Music Festival, June 18-21, and a brand new musical happening called the Big Barrel Country Music Festival, June 26-28.

Both festivals are held at the The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway.

Firefly Musical Festival

Firefly, now in its fourth year, draws enormous crowds into Dover, DE, where Wesley Wolverines, as event worker bees, have found it to be a major fundraising success.

There's exciting news this year that Paul McCartney will headline Firefly's more than 110 bands, which has organizers expecting crowds exceeding 90,000!

Big Barrel Country Musical Festival

Firefly is followed up just a week later on the same grounds with what will be the FIRST EVER Big Barrel Country Music Festival. Wolverines will be wearing aprons behind the food booths for this one, too.

Big Barrel should attract large numbers of country music fans with singers Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and over 35 country groups booked for performances.

The Firefly crowds typically camp out the entire day around The Woodlands' 105 acres and upwards to five stages for the visiting bands, only taking quick breaks for lunch or dinner. 

In the center of everything, last year, and the year before, are the Wolverine softball and Volleyball players -- new recruits are recruited, too -- working together to prepare and serve food to hungry festival goers. Wolverine players from out of town bunk with local teammates who live close to the festival grounds.

It is a lot of work, but a huge fundraiser for the Wesley teams. It's fun, as well, with team bonding and sometimes the ability to catch a performance here and there. 

This year, it's almost double the work -- and double the fun -- for two weekends in a row!

Seven days and counting… One week from today, Sunday, March 8, the Wesley Wolverines should be battling the Principia College Panthers at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic Tournament in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It will be the Panther's first game of the season. Hopefully, the Wolverines will have played a game or two before then.

Weather for the week of March 8, 2015, may bring the team some rain, but the forecasts are mostly sun and cloudy days with temperatures between 54-62 degrees. Click here for the weather reports.

ARCADIA GAME

Away doubleheader, Glenside, PA
Wolverines' last games set
as special event promotion

The last scheduled game for the Wesley Wolverines in the 2015 season, Tuesday, April 14, promises to be both “bright” and “electric”, while probably a late night affair. 

Last year's Arcadia doubleheader was a special event, too. 
Besides being the final game of the season, the day also 
honored senior 3B Ashly Bendorovich's last game as a 
Wolverine. Here the team presents her with her #16 uniform 
framed. The Wolverines split the day, dropping the first 
game 6-3 but coming back with a 8-0 win in the evening contest.

 First, it is away in Glenside, PA, against the Arcadia University Knights. That's just short of a 100 miles by bus from the Wesley College campus. Glenside is a suburb in the northern Philadelphia area.

Second,the games are slated to begin at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, the latest start times for the Wolverines this year. It will be dark before the start of the second game!

Both games, however, will be played at a venue that will be plenty bright enough! That's thanks to newly installed field lights that just occurred last semester at Arcadia's Blankley Field. The infield also received upgrades this past summer.

The Wolverine game will be only the third softball contest held under lights at the refurbished softball field and the University expects to draw a large student crowd for it. The evening has been has dubbed: “Night Under the Lights”. Free hot chocolate and free glow necklaces will be given to the first 100 Arcadia students in attendance. Between games, two tickets to a Phillies game will be raffled off.
 

Blankley Field, Glenside, PA, will host the Wolverines 
this year with an evening named “Night Under the Lights”.

Wolverine fans might try to block out this special evening for attendance, as well, if just to add a little balance to the Arcadia cheering off the third base line.

 
Arcadia's head softball coach Sarah Norris said "Our team and coaching staff are thrilled to have new lights installed on Blankley Field for our upcoming 2015 season! Having the lights gives us the chance to host night games, which is an exciting and memorable atmosphere for our players and fans."

or wait for the beach games?

Will winter ever let the Wesley Wolverines start their 2015 season? The weather forecasts are not especially promising for the two remaining doubleheaders before the team departs for the warmer temperatures of North Myrtle Beach, SC. 

Next up, Tuesday, March 3, the Wolverines are scheduled to travel north to the Philadelphia suburbs for games against the Swarthmore Garnet at Clothier Softball Field 508 Fieldhouse Lane, Swarthmore, PA. 

Game times are 3:00 & 5:00 PM.

The next day, Wednesday, March 4, is the big DII challenge against the visiting Lincoln University Lions at home on Reynolds DuPont softball field, 511 Mary Street, Dover, DE .
