Texas softball joins pro ranks

The Dallas Charge is the latest addition to the now five team National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league. The new organization is working on assembling a squad now for its roster to be ready for the NPF season that will open in June, 2015.

“… marks the fifth time that the Wolverines have won the Lambert Award after Wesley finished the year at 12-2 overall. The Wolverines reached the NCAA Playoffs for the tenth-straight season and advanced to the Semifinals for the sixth-time in program history.”

College Major: Elementary and Special Education

What I hope to do when I graduate: I hope to overall make a difference in children’s lives. As an elementary and special education teacher, I have learned that education is constantly changing and every child, with or without disabilities, deserves to be treated equally with a proper education.

Campus clubs or organizations: Other than my team, I am a member of, and the secretary for, the SAAC organization and I am also a member of the De La Warr history club on campus.

Academic trips taken: With the De La Warr history club, I took a trip to Gettysburg which I enjoyed very much. It was a great time.

What I like best about college: I love how close I am with my teammates so being able to hang out with them outside of softball is always a great time.

My favorite spot on campus: My favorite spot on campus is in Budd Hall with most of the education majors. Many of the classrooms are always open throughout the day whenever I need a quiet place to sit down and work, whether it is in the computer lab or in one of the regular classrooms.

Things I like to do: Spending my down time with my roommates and friends, I always have a great time hanging out on campus with my friends.

What I did last summer: When I wasn’t working at a movie theater in my hometown, I played on a 23U travel softball team and I also helped coach my younger sister on her 18U travel team.

Best advice I've received: On the softball field my dad would always tell me, “Pain is temporary, pride is forever.” He has taught me to always play my best and then I would have no reason to be upset with myself if I thought I played my best.

 Favorite players: Jennie Finch, Peyton Manning, and David Wright

 
Favorite teams: Alabama football and softball and my favorite collegiate teams and Denver Broncos and New York Mets are my favorite professional teams.

 
The most influential person in my life is my former education teacher from high school, Mrs. Eads. She is the home economics teacher as well as the preschool program teacher at my old high school. Mrs. Eads was one of the most inspiring teachers I have had throughout my educational career. She has taught me many things and has made me look at elementary teaching in a whole new perspective which is why I am pursuing the career I am today.

If I could give one piece of advice to elementary school children it would be to never give up. Every person faces tough times in their life but it will all be worth it in the end to know they had overcome any obstacles in life. The best thing to do is to look back at your educational journey and see how far you have come.

My favorite form of entertainment includes playing any type of sport with my friends just for fun. Whether it’s throwing a softball or football around, playing basketball, or kicking a soccer ball around, I love to be active and stay involved with all types of sports.

Things I like to do: I love to inspire people! I also enjoy traveling and the beach. I love baking and cooking

Professors that have made an impact on my life: All of my professors at Wesley have had a positive impact on my life. From Dr. Muscko to Coach Short, Professor Barry, Dr. Phillips, Professor Abbott, Professor Hawkins-Riggs and the many others. They all have strived to get the best out of me and have taught me much more than a textbook ever would. I thank all of them for who I am and who I will become after Wesley.

Oakfield High School's (Oakfield, Wisconsin) student body that numbers just 116 has now won four state softball championships since 2009!
